Axis _ Short Courses

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to responsibly sell, serve or supply alcohol. Responsible practices must be undertaken wherever alcohol is sold, served or supplied, including where alcohol samples are served during on-site product tastings. This unit therefore applies to any workplace where alcohol is sold, served or supplied, including all types of hospitality venues, packaged liquor outlets and wineries, breweries and distilleries.

The unit applies to all levels of personnel involved in the sale, service, including promotional service and supply of alcohol in licensed premises. Those selling or serving alcohol may include food and beverage attendants; packaged liquor salespersons selling in person, over the phone or online; winery, brewery and distillery cellar door staff; delivery services and supplier sales representatives. The unit also applies to security staff who monitor customer behaviour and to the licensee who is ultimately responsible for responsible service of alcohol (RSA) management.

The unit incorporates the knowledge requirements, under state and territory liquor licensing law, for employees engaged in the sale, service or supply of alcohol.

HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide an emergency response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

What you will do in this course

• Read the parts of the Axis Institute Learner Handbook that apply to this unit.
• Complete Assessment Task 1, an online multiple-choice quiz that marks itself.
• Attend a practical session and complete Assessment Task 2, where your assessor watches you manage realistic emergency scenarios.

What you must complete for this unit

• Learner Handbook: Parts 1 and 2
• Assessment Task 1: Sections A and B — 49 questions (A1 to A29, B1 to B20)
• Assessment Task 2: Scenarios 1 to 5
• Written incident report: Not required

Both assessment tasks must be assessed as Satisfactory before you can be marked competent.

HLTAID012 Provide first aid in an education and care setting

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. The unit applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting.

What you will do in this course

• Read the parts of the Axis Institute Learner Handbook that apply to this unit.
• Complete Assessment Task 1, an online multiple-choice quiz that marks itself.
• Attend a practical session and complete Assessment Task 2, where your assessor watches you manage realistic emergency scenarios.
• Complete one written incident report.

What you must complete for this unit

• Learner Handbook: Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4
• Assessment Task 1: Sections A, B, C and D — 95 questions (A1 to A29, B1 to B20, C1 to C29, D1 to D17)
• Assessment Task 2: Scenarios 1 to 8, with all required age variations (adult, child and infant)
• Written incident report: Required — one written incident report in an education and care context

Both assessment tasks must be assessed as Satisfactory before you can be marked competent.
